1. Project Launch Overview 

The brand-new live English news programme Evening News on RTHK TV 32 had its official premiere on 20th July. Airing live at 20:00 every Monday to Friday on a regular basis, the programme studio is fully equipped with SEEDER’s networking prompter system. The system delivered a flawless premiere broadcast, marking Hong Kong’s benchmark live news case that achieves millisecond-level synchronisation among teleprompter-linked CG graphics, anchors’ live narration and on-screen captions for the first time across the region.

As a highly credible public information broadcaster in Hong Kong, RTHK TV 32 has long been responsible for live broadcasting of key content including Legislative Council meetings, official press briefings, real-time local and international news, and major sports events. Adhering to rigorous broadcast standards with very low fault tolerance for live transmissions, the channel sets stringent requirements on the stability, precision and intelligence of studio production and broadcast equipment. The equipment and technical upgrade for this new English news programme has further lifted the professionalism and standardisation of the channel’s international news output.

2. Deployed SEEDER Intelligent Production & Broadcast Solution 

To meet the stringent criteria for regular high-definition live broadcasting of the news programme, the studio adopted a full set of self-developed intelligent teleprompter production and broadcast solutions from SEEDER, consisting of: 

• 3 sets of WP2152N network teleprompter terminals 

• 3 sets of UE5 12G 3D 4K Full-Feature Graphics 

• 3 sets of WPServer Networked Prompter Server

 • 3 sets of Network Hand Controller + 3 sets of Wireless Hand Controller 

With multi-terminal networking and stable parallel operation, the system supports simultaneous studio performances by multiple anchors, fully matching the highfrequency, ultra-stable and high-precision operational demands of daily English news live broadcasts.

3. Technological Breakthrough Against Conventional Caption Production Workflow 

Leveraging SEEDER’s proprietary core technologies, the project has thoroughly revamped the traditional news caption production workflow. Under conventional live news frameworks, dedicated staff must be assigned to produce captions and stand by for real-time monitoring during broadcasts. After the rundown lists are issued via the NRCS, operators have to manually split script lines and adjust formats. Such cumbersome procedures drive up labour costs considerably. Worse still, manual operations frequently cause timing mismatches between spoken narration and onscreen captions, alongside caption typos and omissions, which fail to satisfy the strict benchmarks for premium news live streaming. 

Powered by SEEDER’s integrated intelligent workflow, Evening News has achieved transformative improvements in its production chain. The prompter system establishes precise linkage with CG graphic systems to push captions in real time, delivering millisecond-level alignment between anchors’ voice output and screen captions. This capability completely removes the need for full-time caption operators and enables unmanned caption generation and broadcast. Furthermore, the system supports automatic script line breaking and adaptive formatting based on rundown files without any secondary manual revision. 

This integrated intelligent solution greatly streamlines studio operational workflows and cuts manpower expenses. It eliminates human errors at the source while comprehensively enhancing the professionalism, stability and standardisation of live news production.

4. Project Outcome & Future Outlook 

All SEEDER devices maintained steady operation with zero malfunctions throughout the premiere live news broadcast. The successful rollout of Hong Kong’s first live broadcast project featuring teleprompter-controlled real-time caption synchronisation has fully validated the compatibility of SEEDER’s networking prompter solutions with the multi-lingual, high-standard and highly regulated live news environment in Hong Kong and Macao, demonstrating SEEDER’s robust proprietary technological competence.
